Ten animals killed in Crystal Coast house fire

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WITN) - Ten animals were lost after a home was destroyed in a fire last night in one coastal town.

The fire was coming out of the roof of the home on Pearl Drive in Beaufort when firefighters got the call shortly after 7:00 p.m.

“Crews arrived to find a large home on stilts with heavy fire coming from the rear of the home and from the roof,” said Assistant Beaufort Fire Chief Jack Fleeman.

No one was injured and firefighters from eight departments were there for more than six hours.

The Beaufort fire marshal and the Carteret County fire marshal are working together to determine how the fire started.
