Xiaomi Redmi 12 review: 5G for the masses, but display, camera leave much to be desired, ET Telecom
Aug 02, 2023
The Redmi 12 5G comes with a huge 6.79-inch display slab sporting an FHD+ resolution, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 90Hz, touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. It is the first smartphone in India to be powered by the 4nm architecture-based budget Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset paired with 8GB RAM (extendable by 8GB virtually), 256GB of internal memory, and a 5000mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging.
Xiaomi, stung by erosion in its India market share for two consecutive quarters (Q1 2023 and Q2 2023), has placed bold bets on the affordable Redmi 12 5G. It is pitched against 5G smartphones by Xiaomi’s own sub-brand Poco, Samsung, homegrown handset maker Lava, as well as, Oppo and Realme.
